Introduction

WAJD ("WAJD", "we", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy and the privacy of children who use our service. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights. We are the data controller, registered in England & Wales, and we comply with the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.

Children's privacy first. WAJD is used by children. A child's account must be created by a parent, guardian or school, who confirms consent at sign-up. We use the parent/guardian's email address to send a verification code and to oversee the account. We collect as little information as possible, never sell personal data, and never use it for behavioural advertising. A parent or guardian can ask us to access or delete the account's data at any time.

What we collect

Account details, name, email and role (student, tutor, admin), and a learner's level. Passwords are stored only as a secure hash, never in plain text.
Learning activity, progress, scores, stars, streaks, badges and assignments, so learners, parents and tutors can track progress.
AI tutor messages, the questions a learner asks the tutor are processed to generate an answer. We do not require or want personal or contact details in these messages.
Uploaded papers, papers a teacher uploads are processed to create practice content.
Technical data, a secure session cookie to keep you signed in, and basic logs needed to run and protect the service.

How we use your information

To provide the learning library, AI tutor, mock tests and games.
To save progress and let parents and tutors see how a learner is doing.
To keep the service secure, reliable and to prevent abuse.
To respond to enquiries you send us.

Legal basis

We process personal data on the basis of performing our service to you, your consent (which you can withdraw), and our legitimate interests in running a safe, working platform, always balanced against the rights of children.

Sharing and AI processing

We do not sell your personal data. To power the AI tutor and question generation, learner questions and topic prompts are sent to a trusted third-party AI provider solely to generate a response; they are not used to build advertising profiles. We use a small number of trusted processors (e.g. hosting) under data-protection agreements. We may disclose data where legally required.

Cookies

We use a single essential session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

How long we keep it

We keep account and progress data while the account is active. AI tutor questions are processed to answer you and are not retained as a long-term personal record. You can ask us to delete your data at any time.

Your rights

You (or a child's parent/guardian) can request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data, and can object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

Security

We protect data with measures including hashed passwords, secure sessions, access controls and transport encryption. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here with a new "last updated" date.
