Professional private tutoring is an 8 hour course on WAJD Learning, our professional training site. It covers the business side of tutoring (HMRC, insurance, contracts and agencies), safeguarding and DBS as a lone professional, the teaching craft that makes one to one work actually work, and how to run the practice: first lessons, parents, pricing and data protection. The first module is free to read, and the certificate carries a code anyone can verify.
Finished it? Paste your certificate code into the application: we check it during review, and approved tutors show a WAJD Certified badge on their public profile. The certificate never replaces vetting. Every applicant still goes through the Enhanced DBS check, identity verification and interview.
WAJD Academy is a free learning library funded to stay free, and the tutor platform runs on the same infrastructure that already serves the lessons. Adding tutors costs us very little and makes the whole thing work better for children, so there is nothing to charge for. If we ever build something that genuinely costs money to run, it will be sold to schools, not to individual tutors.

Data is held on servers in the European Economic Area, in Germany, no learner content is used to train anything, and the platform never stores card details. Parental consent is recorded for every child account. The full detail is in the Privacy Policy and the security policy.
